One of Australia's most acclaimed wineries Hardys Wines, is celebrating its 170th anniversary this year. Founded in South Australia in 1853, Thomas Hardy set out to make wines ‘revered around the world’. Today Hardys Wines is one of Australia's most respected and awarded wineries, loved by consumers across the globe.  
 
To celebrate their big anniversary Hardys Wines has launched 'The Eight”, an 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz blend that represents ‘the pinnacle of Hardys' winemaking expertise and pays homage to its remarkable legacy’ and is a wine that ‘embodies the very essence of Australia's rich terroir’.

Drawing upon the expertise of their talented winemakers and harnessing the distinct characteristics of each region, Hardys has expertly crafted this limited-edition wine from eight select barrels from three esteemed vineyards – Frankland River, McLaren Vale, and Coonawarra . The culmination of passion and dedication, 'The Eight' promises an ‘extraordinary sensory journey, showcasing the pinnacle of Australian winemaking’. 

Hardys Winemaker, Helen McCarthy, describes 'The Eight' as a true representation of Australia's winemaking prowess. She remarks, 'This wine epitomizes our tireless pursuit of excellence. By meticulously handpicking the finest grapes from three iconic regions, we have created a wine that harmoniously combines their unique attributes. 'The Eight' is a testament to the immense potential of Australian wines and an experience that will delight wine enthusiasts around the world.' 

‘The Eight’ has a Recommended Retail Price (RRP): AUD$250 and is a limited production with only 2,004 bottles being produced. Wine enthusiasts and avid collectors will be able purchase ‘The Eight’ through the Hardys’ website and can also be found at Sydney and Melbourne Global Travel Retailers.  

As part of the celebrations for the anniversary 'The Eight' will be available for an exclusive tasting opportunity at Sydney International Airport, Departure Terminal. For a pre-flight ‘Taste of Australia’ experience travellers are invited to visit the bar located in the Heinemann Tax & Duty Free bar between 8:00 am - 1:00 pm, 7 days a week to try ‘The Eight’ for themselves.
