The
Profile: Virginia Fisher came to the public's attention with her very first project for Huka Lodge, Taupo New Zealand commissioned in 1984. Fisher is an Auckland-based interior decorator who is known for her light, bright and stylish spaces. Since then she has made a name creating interiors for some of New Zealand's most luxurious lodges. |
The Style: Virginia Fisher draws upon her understanding of how the property should feel and look through the atmosphere and appearance. Her subtle style gives the rooms an airy and homely feel with a basis of sophistication. Fisher's design for Huka Lodge, owned by Alex van Heeren, incorporates an organic style through the use of timber and exposed beams. The Lodge is set within a spectacular landscape, which guests can enjoy even from their bathtub. Her next project for van Hereen was Grande Provence lodge in the South African winelands. She recently turned her attention to re-designing van Heeren's Dolphin Island resort in Fiji and has just finished the newly opened Matakauri Lodge near Queenstown acquired in 2009 by wall street legend Julian Robertson (who also owns
Kauri Cliffs and Cape Kidnappers). |
