The Style: Travel has always being Lotersztain's main source of inspiration. As a self-confessed "nomad" he has seen the inside of enough hotel rooms to know what people want. He formed the design group Derlot, which has an holistic approach to hotel interiors. The Studio was commissioned to create the Limes Hotel in Brisbane and has overseen every aspect of the interior from bedroom design and layout to glassware for the bar. The approach is simple and clever and has been described as having "International appeal yet Australian charm". Of his design focus for Limes Hotel Lotersztain says, "I wanted to make the guest feel special, yet not afraid of jumping into the bed like it was their own". The interiors of the hotel rooms have been designed by Lotersztain to feel visually spacious yet allow guests to feel comfortable. The Limes Hotel's material palette was chosen on the basis of durability, maintenance and appeal, achieving a style that is modern, sleek yet welcoming. The rooms also feature Derlot's 'lerod' barstool and lounger with NZ black sheep skin, and the limited edition "'twig' table exclusive to Limes. |
