Guests of this beautiful and unique resort will of course be drawn to the stunning canals of nearby Venice, but as The Luxury Travel Bible discovered there is plenty at the resort to keep you occupied during your stay.
The Almar Jesolo Resort and Spa is a family-owned five-star resort located in Lido di Jesolo, which sits 45km from the centre of Venice. Of course, TLTB doesn’t need to tell our readers how amazing Venice and Italy are, as you already know that. But we do need to tell you how wonderful the Almar Jesolo is.
We had arranged a private transfer with the hotel to pick us up from the Marco Polo International Airport which is 35km from the hotel. As we drove through the Italian countryside towards the resort it felt like we were escaping the hustle of Venice, and towards a very peaceful beach front location.
As we entered the lobby to check in we were instantly met by warm smiling faces and could see a beautiful view of the pool and the beach and ocean beyond. The hotel owns its own private beach for the use of its guests. Although the hotel sits back from the beach, a private walkway connects the resort to the beach. I think I’m going to like it here.
As soon as we entered our suite we were impressed before we even started to fully explore the large accommodation. Our suite had a large balcony with sun loungers which looked out toward the beautiful view of the beach and ocean.
Even for a suite, I was very impressed with the size of the accommodation. Naturally we had a gorgeously comfy large bed and a relaxing living room. But what really impressed me was having two full sized bathrooms, one with a bath and the other with a lovely large shower. Two large bathrooms is just sheer indulgence!
Full sized products of the range used in the resort’s spa are also used in the resort’s suites and room… and believe me they are lovely products. In fact, I liked them much so that I went to the spa to purchase some products to take home with me.
During a stay at the resort you must be sure to take some time out to visit the spa and its facilities. But don’t just take my word for it; The spa has won a collection of prestigious awards the spa including ‘World’s Best Luxury Wellness Spa 2018’.
As well as a great spa menu of treatments and massages, the spa also features over 2,000 square meters to help guests relax. As well as a large indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool the spa also features a range of saunas, steam baths, a Turkish salt bath and multi-sensory showers.
For The Luxury Travel Bible, great service is true luxury.
Dining at Almar Jesolo is a great experience, with a diverse range of options and menus. From the vast breakfast buffet and menu to pool-side lunches to pre-dinner cocktails in the bar to a delicious meal in the beautiful restaurant, there are gourmet dishes available from morning to night.
Those who wish to treat their body like a temple during their stay can choose dishes which have been created by the chefs to promote ‘Well-Being’. The nutritious dishes promise to ‘to provide energy (light) and stimulate proper, optimal overall health’. While the dishes have a focus on health and well-being they are also delicious with a focus on fresh, local ingredients and amazing flavours and colours.
As well as delicious traditional Italian cuisine and wines, the resort also takes inspiration from the tastes of guests from around the world. From Japanese, Russian or Chinese breakfast set-menus, American-style pancakes to English-inspired Afternoon Tea … there is definitely something to suit everyone.
The hotel is located close to Venice and we could easily arrange a private transfer to the ferry and then travelled to the centre of Venice from there. Being so close, we felt we had to take a day to visit to the magical city of Venice.
However, during your stay it is also worth taking a short walk from the resort to the seaside resort town of Jesolo. One evening we took a beautiful walk along the sandy beach and spent time exploring the small shops and restaurants. It was lovely to spend some time in a local area and relax with a drink at a beach front bar. (Fun Fact: the beach has Free Wi-Fi Zones… which is great for the perfect Instagram upload!)
Of course, as any well-seasoned traveller knows, great style, food and location all help to create a luxury experience, but it is the service which really makes a resort stand out.
The service that we experienced while staying at the Almar Jesolo was outstanding and impeccable. Everyone we encountered from the check in staff, to the Food and Beverage staff to the housekeeping and Spa staff was wonderful.
As first-time visitors to the resort, staff took a genuine interest in our daily activities, passed on helpful tips and sincerely asked us about our day. It’s highly cliché to say… but we’ll say it anyway; they made us feel like friends and it felt sad to leave even after a few days.
Excellent customer service and making each guest encounter feel personal really is at the heart of the success of the Almar Jesolo. For The Luxury Travel Bible, that high level of hospitality is true luxury.
The combination of sea air, spa treatments, Italian style and great service meant that I left the Almar Jesolo feeling much more relaxed and extremely well fed on delicious food and local wines.
The Luxury Travel Bible recommends the Almar Jesolo for anyone wanting a relaxing escape in a beautiful part of the world.
I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list. Susan Sontag
