HIGH FLYER: BRITISH AIRWAYS' New LONDON-NASHVILLE Route

From May 4th 2018 an exciting new direct flight has launched by British Airways, from London Heathrow to Nashville’s International Airport. What will no doubt be music to Country fans’ ears, BA is now the only airline flying direct between Europe and the capital of Tennessee.

Until the launch of this route, there has been no direct flight, with travellers having to catch connecting flights within the U.S. (and we all know how annoying and disrupting that can be!). It is therefore little surprise that there is much excitement, on both sides of the Atlantic, about the new route.

The new five-a-week service between London and 'Music City' will be served by a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, the airline’s newest fleet. This new BA route follows the launch of New Orleans in March 2017 and Nashville is now the 26th US city that British Airways flies to.

The new service will depart from London Heathrow Terminal 5 at 3.45pm local time and arrive into Nashville International Airport at 6.50pm central time. Flights will depart Nashville at 8.20pm, arriving into London at 10.30am the following day.

To celebrate the new route, and offer a taste of the deep south, British Airways will be serving traditional hot chicken (a Nashville delicacy!) on flights from Nashville to London in all cabins until June 4.

British Airways' chefs have created the dish which marinates chicken in buttermilk, then blends cayenne pepper with other seasonings and spices to create a flavoursome fried chicken. This will be served with macaroni cheese and braised kale (which TLTB thinks sounds absolutely delicious y’all)!

The new route is part of British Airways’ £4.5 billion investment for customers over the next five years. New amenities include the installation of Wi-Fi and power in every seat, fitting 128 long-haul aircraft with new interiors and taking delivery of 72 new aircraft. The airline is also investing £600m specifically in Club World, including new menus and The White Company bedding - plus, from 2019, a new seat with direct aisle access.

The new London-Nashville direct route will feature The White Company’s exclusively designed range of products for British Airways’ Club World passengers, so they can ‘Sleep Well in the Sky’.

To support comfort, The White Company’s new day cushion and super-soft woven blanket with satin trim are perfect for relaxing in your seat while watching your in-flight entertainment or working on your laptop. When you wish to snooze your seat can be converted into a fully flat bed. The padded mattress cover and bespoke luxury duvet make the bed even more comfortable and aim to improve quality of sleep. The new Club World amenity kits come in a stylish bag from The White Company and contains products from their 'Restore & Relax Spa Collection'.  (Click here to read TLTB's review of the  British Airways & White Company Club World Partnership.)

It might be a new route for the airline, but one thing that hasn’t changed from British Airways is the excellent service from the ground staff and flight attendants. Everyone I met was so welcoming and helpful, and it is obvious that they are all so passionate about the new direct London-Nashville route, and the convenience that it will bring.

LUXURY INSIDER… Ahead of the inaugural flight, country music star, Stella Parton (part of one of America’s most legendary music families), was photographed on board a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner.
Stella Parton, who has lived in Nashville for 50 years, said: "On behalf of all of the Nashville natives we are so excited to welcome a British invasion! Nashville is so much more than just a music town, it’s growing, it’s happening, and we want people to come and see what fantastic things we have going on. I’ve been lucky enough to tour the UK many times so I can’t wait to be able to fly direct to London with no stop-over!”
