LUXURY SPAS:  The Spa at Park Hyatt Sydney, The Rocks, Sydney
The Park Hyatt sits on the edge of the harbour in scenic Sydney, between the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, so it is fitting that the aim of the spa is to connect every treatment to 'The sun, the wind, the water'. For good measure the spa also mentions ' the flowers and the earth', but you get the picture.
The Ambience: Once inside the recently refurbished hotel with its shiny new look you make you way to what almost seems to be a 'secret door'. This spa doesn't shout its presence, it whispers it. No grand entrance, just a simple door to the left of the lifts which you could easily miss. But like all good things this urban oasis doesn't need to make a fuss - it knows you'll come for the calmness, the serenity and the quality of the treatments.
The Luxury Travel Bible particularly like the fact that the Spa has introduced a little extra indulgence with its treatments;  the spa champagne afternoon tea  'where relaxing massages and desserts meet in harmony'.  The blissful offer includes a 60-minute massage of choice followed by an indulgent champagne afternoon tea experience served with a flute of Moët & Chandon Rosé Champagne in the hotel's lounge, The Living Room. The packages is AUD$150 per person and available on weekdays.
On the Menu:   Diamond Dreaming
The Treatment: It is fitting that one of Sydney's best five star hotels should have a truly five star treatment. TLTB is always partial to diamonds darling. As Marilyn Monroe once sang, 'diamonds are a girl's best friend '. The spa's ultimate facial and body package combines the luxury of diamond dust with over 30 pure ingredients for an exclusive and innovative ritual. The package pairs up two of the spa's top treatments: the Diamond Divine Facial and the Diamond Magnetic Body treatment.
The Diamond Divine facial's special multi-sensorial lifting technique uses over 30 active ingredients to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin. These are combined with a trio of aromatic massage techniques to tighten, lift and relax. Meanwhile the body ritual is designed to eliminate the effects of electromagnetic energy, pollution and stress. It also promises to increase energy levels. I was exfoliated all over with the diamond dust combined with lavender oil mud. A special magnetic technique was then used to then to remove toxins.  2.5 hours AUD 550.

The Result: The facial promised to 'redefine facial contours, repair damaged DNA and plump skin with ultimate hydration'.   My skin certainly looked smoother and fresher than I'd seen it for a long time, luminous even - must be the magic dust.   Most notable however was the energising effect of the treatment;   de-toxed and invigorated I left the spa with a spring in my step, the world seemed to me an all together brighter place. As I stepped out of the Park Hyatt the sun sparkled on the harbour as bright as any diamonds.

It was going to be a good day.
