Sun Siyam Resorts
The Group: At the end of February 2014 the first (and flagship) branded property of Sun Siyam resorts was launched, The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi. The new-look Iru Fushi is the first 'The Sun Siyam' property, the premier brand of Sun Siyam Resorts owned by the Hon. Ahmed Siyam Mohamed that also includes the boutique 'Beach House Collection' resorts.
The launch of the property included a formal ceremony in front of gathered invited guests including Maldives President, His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. After announcing the luxury resort's newly branded name and raising flags featuring its new logo and name, traditional dancing and celebrations commenced.
During his speech the President commented on the importance of tourism to the Maldives, and that he 'wished The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, the Sun Siyam group and Mr Siyam every success in the world'.

The rebranding of the resort as The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi (formerly Iru Fushi Beach & Spa), is set to be particularly exciting for the Maldives. As the resort's general manager Mr Abdulla Thamheed told The Luxury Travel Bible, 'This is the first time in the history of Maldives tourism that a local hotel owner has named a hotel with his own name, much like Conrad Hilton did 90 years ago. This could go a long way'.

Once evening fell, a lively party which included a surprise performance by headliner Nicole Scherzinger  followed by an impressive fireworks display christened the new brand.
During his speech the Maldives tourism minister reflected that 'If there is no dedication or passion, you cannot thrive in the Maldives tourism industry'. Therefore the launch of the Sun Siyam branded Iru Fushi is particularly symbolic as it is located in the Noonu Atoll, Mr Siyam's childhood home. Celebrating and honouring his roots, the group is deeply committed to enhancing the lives of Maldivians.  As well as donating a portion of net revenue to local preschools, the resort's GIVE philosophy (Get Involved, Visionary Experiences) enables guests to explore the local community and experience its intrinsic relationship to the resort.

Excursions such as visiting a local fruit farm to hearing first-hand the origins of a local village grandmother's recipes, used in the resorts restaurants' kitchens, can be arranged for guests.

The Group aims to ensure that all resort guests not only have a luxurious stay, but also leave feeling they have had a true Maldivian experience by balancing service and facilities with a dedicated focus on the local community.
