The Group: Firmdale Hotels operate eight luxury hotels in London and have recently opened their first hotel in New York to much acclaim. Crosby Street Hotel only opened in October 2009 but has already been named 'Best new hotel in New York - Monocle 2009'.

 

The hotels can be described as having an 'English Eccentric Look'. The design of the hotels doesn't follow a particular formula and each can be viewed as an individual work of art but all share a quirky interior, bold prints and an attention to detail.

The Creators: Firmdale Hotels' owners, Tim and Kit Kemp, believe that "Hotels should be living things, not stuffy institutions". Kit Kemp has designed all of the hotels' interiors; pairing colour, texture and pattern with modern and antique. Combined with an impressive art collection the hotels have a unique style and look. Kit Kemp was awarded the Andrew Martin International Interior Designer of the Year for 2008.
