The Group: The COMO Group, a privately owned company, embraces a diverse range of lifestyle influences. These include: fashion (The company's fashion portfolio includes Club 21, Armani Exchange, CK Issey Miyake, DKNY, Emporio Armani, Max Mara, and Jill Sander.); travel (COMO Hotels and Resorts); and health (COMO Shambhala). that Group also takes its philanthropic interests, seriously in the form of the COMO Foundation.
COMO Hotel and Resorts are as famous for their fabulous locations and styling as their visitors' book. For example, Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner got married at Parrot Cay, where other celebrities also have private villas. The collection of diverse hotels and resorts which began with The Halkin, London in the early 1990s all share a common philosophy and what the group terms, a 'quiet commitment' to ensuring their guests relax completely. Each hotel or resort reflects its location through customs, food and architecture from the rarified air of Bhutan to the paradise islands of the Maldives. |

To escape city-induced stress the COMO Shambhala Urban Escapes help guests relax and rejuvenate. All include a gym, provide Yoga facilities and teachers, and offer restorative therapies. The tranquil COMO Shambhala Retreats are available at the Bhutan, Bali, Maldives and Turks and Caicos locations. COMO Shambhala Retreats promote wellbeing and use natural ingredients and make use of ancient beauty and wellbeing techniques.
The Luxury Travel Bible is particularly fond of COMO Shambhala Estate, Bali which opened in 2005 and is the COMO groups only dedicated residential health retreat and the spa of choice for the rich and famous in search of relaxation, seclusion and spiritual re-charge. The retreat promises a total commitment to the guest's wellbeing and takes a holistic approach -and delivers. |

The Creator:
The very private Christina Ong, wife of Singaporean billionaire Ong Beng Seng is the woman behind COMO Hotels and Resorts, it is her signature style and creativity which makes her hotel portfolio as special as it is. Best friend of Donna Karan she has an illustrious 300-plus year career in fashion and her collection of hotels, is discreet, petite and utterly stylish, which could also be a description of the woman herself.
In luxury hotel terms she is quite possibly the most influence and significant hotelier since Adrian Zecha (of Aman Resorts) burst onto the scene ten years earlier. |
