Icehotel, Sweden |
The 2010/2011 season represents the 21th anniversary for the original ice hotel. Each year, specialist artists from around the world are invited to create stunningly unique rooms. Previous years have featured everything from the Fly Me to the Moon suite with a rocket ship pointed to a dome ceiling lit with star lighting to a tribute to the Fritz Hansen Showroom with a Swan chair sculpted out of ice. All the Deluxe Suites for two are made from ice and snow - including the bed platforms. Thermal sleeping bags on reindeer skins, a thick mattress and wooden base keep you cosy. One of the colder ice hotels operating between 23 and 17.6 degrees Fahrenheit (-5 to -8 degrees Celsius), in the morning a cup of hot lingonberry juice helps you to wake up warm. An ice church makes it possible for very brave couples to make the night a honeymoon beginning. Luxury Loves
That a commitment to art and design lies at the heart of this hotel.
