Kempinski Hotel Bristol, Berlin |
Established in 1897, the Kempinski luxury hotel collection is one of the oldest in Europe - with properties now stretching across the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Responsible for keeping the family business alive is Dr Frederick W. Unger, the only surviving grandchild of the Kempinski family - hoteliers who's lives and livelihood were practically wiped under Germany's Nazi occupation. Unger's investment in the construction of The Hotel Bristol in 1951 marked a significant return of confidence and life (including high society) in post-war Berlin. The hotel has 246 rooms combining classic and modern styles and 55 suites overlooking the Kurfürstendamm, one of the city's most popular tree-lined avenues and where the cultural city's best shopping, dining and nightlife is found.
