OK, there is gingham and check (lots of it) and there is wood and antlers everywhere (antler balconies, antler lights, antlers in the bar...) but don't be fooled this isn't your typical lodge. This is mountain cool at its best. Nestled into the side of the slopes by the mighty snow-capped Matterhorn, this chic hotel is what you'd get if you mated a mountaineer with a Manhattanite. The hotel's visionary creators, Daniel F. and Seraina Lauber have managed to retain much of the main building's original 1940s features yet still made the interiors modern and clean.
