Heaven to Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson is either gazing at the amazing panorama of the Sabi Sand bushveld and Drakensburg Mountains, 800ft (243m) up from the deck of spectacular Rock Lodge or sitting pretty in a luxury tree house while the wild world passes by. The two lodges are part of the Virgin Limited edition luxury hotel collection and guests are encouraged to experience both during their stay. Considering the 'koppie' was a former Shangaan warrior lookout, its position is by far its greatest asset. Others will appreciate the freshwater pool and French champagne and South African wines on tap. For me, there's something romantic about having to cross a rope bridge to get your opulent tree house suite with plunge pool on the deck. No gift from Tiffany's could dazzle brighter than the night sky in the bushveld and the Safari Lodge also has an observatory for stargazing, (and a spa and gym so you'll look continue to look as buff as the buffalo).
