What inspired you to get into the luxury travel industry?
I have loved travelling ever since I was a young child. My father was huge influence in my life and he encouraged me to travel for enriched experiences. Together, we visited and lived in several countries whilst I was growing up.

What is the single most defining thing about ‘Escape to Hidden Chic’?
We are small, discreet, and exclusive. We are proud to offer private homes for rent that are not available on the open market to provide each of our guests with an unforgettable and unique experience.

What are you most proud about at ‘Escape to Hidden Chic’?
Our dedication to putting a smile on our clients’ faces. Our primary goal is to exceed expectations and I am thrilled at our success so far!

I truly appreciate the opportunities we have nowadays to visit far flung areas of the world in total luxury, it is a special thing.

What does ‘Escape to Hidden Chic’ have in store for 2022 and beyond?
New destinations will include numerous Greek Islands, and luxurious properties across France and Italy. Although we cannot disclose any specific details yet, there will be a lot of excitement here at Escape to Hidden Chic this year!

What does a private house/villa need for it to stand out from the crowd?
Style and substance. The property must be comfortable and welcoming, so guests feel as though they are staying in a home away from home. However, the property must be visually aesthetic and worthy of a glossy magazine.

How do you think the luxury travel industry is evolving following the Covid-19 Pandemic? How have guests’ demands/needs changed?
At this moment in time, it feels as though COVID-19 never happened. Even though we remain cautious in the continuing pandemic, we have found that guests’ needs are much like they were before the pandemic hit.

What do you love most about the luxury travel industry?
Whilst I do not agree with or like the pretention and inflated prices that are often seen in the luxury travel industry, there are several special aspects of it that I love! I truly appreciate the opportunities we have nowadays to visit far flung areas of the world in total luxury, it is a special thing. I would like to see more luxury trains and ships being introduced in the future of luxury travel.

What is your personal litmus test for whether a rental property is worthy of the 'luxury' tag?
I have a special routine that allows me to determine whether I think a property is worthy of the ‘luxury tag’. If I have a glorious night sleep in an exceptional bed, wake up to a wonderful breakfast, and walk to the waters’ edge in an incredible location, it’s perfect!

Describe your ideal Private Villa.
The ideal private villa is elegant yet simple. I like properties that have a rich history and a unique yet aesthetically pleasing style.

Apart from your own properties, what are your favourite hotels/resorts, and why?
Greycliff in Nassau, The St James Paris, Les Belles Rives in Juan les Pins, Le Pinede Plage, and La Croix Valmer are my favourite properties around the world. They are all family-owned yet each their own elegantly simple style. They have a wonderful history and extraordinary attention to detail throughout the entire properties. I also love The Standard Group for providing me with a home away from home when I travel for work.

What is the one luxury travel experience you will never forget?
The Laragai Estate in Kenya, one of our exclusive properties. The early morning and moonlit walks are the perfect way to spot the diverse wildlife of the country.

What is first on your 'where to next' wish list?
Sao Tome, Principe and a great train journey!

What three things do you never travel without?
My photographer, a swimsuit and my sunglasses.

Who would you most like to sit next to on a long-haul flight? Why?
Oscar Wilde. He was an incredible storyteller and I believe he would make me laugh and the journey would fly by.

What is the most important thing (travel-wise) that money CAN buy?
A comfortable seat.

What is the most important thing (travel-wise) that money CAN’T buy?
Peace and a generous host.
