WHAT TO PACK... Wilderness x Sealand collection

Wilderness and Sealand have joined forces to launch a limited collection of handmade, upcycled travel gear. The gear is both practical and stylish and is handcrafted and eco-conscious, created from responsibly and ethically sourced materials.

The partnership is a great collaboration as both Wilderness and Sealand share a respect for nature and a drive for positive change. For over 40 years Wilderness has pioneered conservation and hospitality in Africa and Sealand is known for its ethically sourced gear which is inspired by nature.

Handmade in Cape Town by a highly skilled team of craftspeople each bag has the name of the person who made it and a QR code link to read more about who they are.

Available in three colours, each bag  is sturdy and weather-resistant, made from ECONYL® regenerative nylon waste, with primary waste inputs being industrial carpet waste and ghost fishing nets from the ocean. Combined with industrial-strength webbing, and ripstop weaves, they are resistant to ripping and tearing for optimal strength for every outdoor adventure. Inspired by nature, the range includes a variety of options, from the Swish Tote, Dune Duffle and Rowlie Backpack, to a Toastie multi-functional storage pouch and Keezy keychains.

We are thrilled to launch this one-of-a-kind collection featuring design-focused eco-conscious gear with our like-minded partners and friends, Sealand. Not only are we providing a solution around the most functional gear to bring on a Wilderness adventure, but we are doing so in a sustainable way that is closely aligned with our values', says Amanda Wilson, Wilderness Head of Partnerships and Retail Strategy.

Wilderness guests will have the opportunity to meet the artisans who have crafted the bags, through a Wilderness and Sealand private full-day itinerary that brings together the brands’ favourite Cape Town experiences - from a culinary adventure prepared by a sought-after local  forager to time spent with a non-profit providing ocean-based opportunities and environmental education to vulnerable youth. The experience can be booked through any Wilderness Travel Designer, along with other Wilderness Touring experiences in Cape Town that perfectly book-end time in the bush.
