SAMOA's FAMOUS Aggie Greys resort has had a serious facelift. The old girl is young again and starrily rebranded under Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide. Yesterday (January 15) marked the official opening of Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey's Resort. In the South Pacific. This is the Sheraton brand’s debut in Samoa but there is more to come later this year. Owned by the Grey family, the resort now becomes the first internationally-branded resort to debut in Samoa.

The beachfront resort spreads out along a white sand beach on the west coast of Upolu, Samoa and is surrounded by incredible natural beauty. Samoa is known for its lush landscape and natural beauty, fantastic diving and serene island environment, so guests can snorkel or dive at one of Upolu’s dive spots, charter a boat and spend the day fishing, swim with turtles or partake in the numerous water sports the hotel offers. Guests or  take a stroll in one of Samoa’s lush national parks or visit one of Upolu’s spectacular waterfalls, blowholes, caves or lava fields nearby. All this yet Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Resort is just a five-minute drive from Faleolo International Airport (APW).

There are 133 guest rooms, all with either a ground-floor patio or first-floor balcony and views of the Pacific. AS you’d expect guest will sleep easy on the brand’s signature all-white Sheraton Sweet Sleeper™ bed. If you can manage to get out of bed the resort has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis court, and nearby golf facilities. There is also a 24-hour Sheraton Fitness centre, kids club and an outdoor spa offering a range of relaxation packages.

There is lots of local flavour in the food and the entertainment. Every night torches will be lit and culture shows will feature fire dancers. Five bars and restaurants will give you plenty of opportunity to sample flavours from around the South Pacific. For a traditional Samoan affair, guests can head to the Apolima Fale Restaurant, with local cuisine and the resort’s signature culture show. The Club House Restaurant provides a quieter, romantic setting. Located within the grounds away from the main resort, the restaurant features a 360-degree open kitchen and Japanese delicacies. International cuisine is offered the newly refurbished South Pacific Restaurant, headed up by one of well-known Samoan Chef, Kit Foe.

Tech-wise rooms have high speed Internet access and 42inch flat panel televisions and the lobby features the signature Microsoft Link@Sheraton℠ where guests can stay connected with free Wi-Fi.
