WILTONS' TOMMASO TO CYCLE IN AID OF HOSPITALITY ACTION

Tommaso Sicuro, Assistant Manager of one of TLTB’s favourite London restaurants Wiltons, will be undertaking the renowned and challenging long-distance cycling event Paris-Brest-Paris in aid of a  wonderful cause, Hospitality Action.

The event, taking place from 20th to 24th  August, celebrating its 20th anniversary, commences in Rambouillet, south-west of Paris and takes the cyclists on to Brest on the coast of Brittany, before returning to Paris, the cyclists must complete the 750 miles / 1,200km event over four days or 90 hours.

Tommaso has committed to supporting the well-known charity Hospitality Action which supports employees and their families within the hospitality industry. From chefs to housekeepers, managers, receptionists, kitchen porters, sommeliers, bartenders, and waiters, all hospitality industry personnel can receive advice and support from Hospitality Action, should they need it.  Whether it is a worry or concern regarding finances, physical illness, or mental health issues, Hospitality Action helps people within the industry get back on their feet and supports their growth within the industry.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Tommaso discovered a love of cycling. Since Wiltons had closed due to the lockdowns imposed, Tommaso was seeking a new challenge to enhance and boost his physical and mental health and thus found a new passion. Following the pandemic, Tommaso and a small group of his friends cycle together every weekend.

“I wanted to take on this challenge and support this charity because Hospitality Action provides an incredible service that benefits all aspects of the industry. I have never taken on anything like this before and I am looking forward to completing the challenge, especially with the opportunity to raise money and awareness of a charity that provides support for so many people in need." Enthuses Tommaso.

“Everyone here at Wiltons is immensely proud of Tommaso’s dedication to helping Hospitality Action. It is a fantastic opportunity for Tommaso and Wiltons to raise awareness of the charity Hospitality Action” comments Jason Phillips, Wiltons Director.

“We are very grateful to the many guests that have supported Tommaso by donating to his fundraising efforts. The ride is a real endurance test and a tribute to his love of both cycling and his determination to help those in hospitality that need support.”

Tommaso has worked at Wiltons for 14 years as their Assistant Restaurant Manager and is a professional oyster shucker. A true bastion of British food, Wiltons started life as an oyster stall in Haymarket in 1742 and has been renowned for oysters for the past 281 years and has previously been awarded six royal warrants including one for supplying Queen Victoria with oysters in 1836.

Good Luck Tommaso!
