The Ritz Hotel Paris

The Ritz Hotel Paris may not have been named on the official French government list of Palace Hotels, but it does make The Luxury Travel Bible's list.

Since being converted into a hotel in 1898, by the legendary hotelier Caesar Ritz, this hotel has been synonymous with elegance, luxury, glamour and opulence.  But don't just take TLTB's word for it - just one look at the guest book shows that this LHW hotel has long been a favourite for many luxe lovers.

A-list guests have flocked to the Ritz which is known for its utmost discretion. Past guests include Charlie Chaplin, Greta Garbo, King Edward VII, Coco Chanel, Ernest Hemingway (the hotel bar has been named in his honour), Princess Diana and Marlene Dietrich.

TLTB are big fans of the Elton John suite.  The two bedroom suite - perfect for when Elton, David and baby Zachary are in town - has views over Paris and is as grand as you would expect for the original Rocketman.
