Asked for a definition of the word horticulture, Dorothy Parker said, "You can take a whore to culture but you can't make her think". The pithy Parker and her literary cohorts, such as Alexander Woollcott, did a lot of thinking and gossiping and creating at this legendary hotel when they set up their famous literary club in what is now The Round Table Room  in the 1920s.  The rooms are a touch on the slim volume size by today's standards but they have an authentic jazz-age feel The hotel isn't resting on its historical laurels either, guests can swing by reception and borrow an Amazon Kindle, fully loaded with the latest books in digital form, including Ms Parker's of course.
