The
490 yard par 4 17th Road Hole is arguably the most famous hole in
golf. It has been in existence for
centuries in one form or another, which accounts for its endearing quirkiness.
Not only is the road in play there is also a stone wall which is sometimes used
to bounce balls off towards the green.
Add to the mix a bunker which is more like a bomb crater and it's not
hard to see why the Road Hole has captured the imagination of so many golfers.
