Some of the larger luxury London hotels are often criticised that their Afternoon Teas are overcrowded and guests treated more like a number with narrow time slots and fast turnover. That is why The Luxury Travel Bible loves the relaxed atmosphere of the Royal Park Hotel, which is reflected in their 'Tiers of Joy' afternoon tea. TLTB also loves that this is an Afternoon Tea that isn't frugal with the champagne.
The 'Tiers of Joy' afternoon tea is a beautifully presented degustation menu with each tier matched with specially selected Taittinger champagnes and Tregothnan teas. Taking tea at the hotel is an intimate affair in the beautifully decorated dining room that feels like you are dining in your regal ancestors grand London home. The traditional menu begins with classic finger sandwiches (enhanced with a glass of Taittinger's original Brut Reserve or a cup of Earl Grey) which is of course followed by freshly baked scones with jam and cream. This tier is served with a lemon verbena infusion or a glass of Taittinger's Prestige Rose. The top tier is an array of sweet fancies and cakes and is accompanied by a myrtle infusion tea or a glass of Taittinger's Nocturne Sec.
Trust TLTB when we say that you will be very comfortable enjoying this leisurely afternoon tea that will take you from afternoon into the early evening (and we are still thinking about those delicious Macaroons).
TLTB says: Be sure to try one of the hotel's Flower Teas - not only beautiful to watch the flower unfurl but also delicious to drink.
'Tiers of Joy' is available each day from 3.00pm-6.00pm, served with selected Taittinger champagnes starts from £40 per person or served with a range of Tregothnan tea starts from £25 per person.
