The winter-flooded pathways of Gorky Park may offer more adventurous skating, but for five years now it's been hard to beat Red Square as an all-time iconic city-centre rink, with the Kremlin, the cartoon colours of St Basil's Cathedral and the fairy lights of the GUM department store as a backdrop. Be sure to wear a big fur hat.
