Established in 1897, the Kempinski luxury hotel collection is one of the oldest in Europe - with properties now stretching across the Middle East, Africa and Asia.Responsible for keeping the family business alive is Dr Frederick W. Unger, the only surviving grandchild of the Kempinski family - hoteliers who's lives and livelihood were practically wiped under Germany's Nazi occupation. Unger's investment in the construction of The Hotel Bristol in 1951 marked a significant return of confidence and life (including high society) in post-war Berlin. The hotel has 246 rooms combining classic and modern styles and 55 suites overlooking the Kurfürstendamm, one of the city's most popular tree-lined avenues and where the cultural city's best shopping, dining and nightlife is found.
