Vientiane hasn't yet caught up with Luang Prabang in the chic little hotel stakes which is maybe why this hotel feels the need to include the word 'boutique' in its actual name. But then it seems to want to cover all bases by deeming itself both a 'hotel' and a 'resort' lest anyone at all should be put off. The contemporary take on traditional style looks almost more Thai than Lao, although the aim is to fuse the modern with traditional Lao style. There are 34 rooms and suites and you need to go for a deluxe suite or above to find anything resembling the luxury you are used to.
The hotel is a little out of the city centre which means it is especially quiet, although Vientiane isn't exactly a mad metropolis anyway. You are in walking distance to the morning market though if you want your obligatory Asian hit of local fruit and veggie haggling and a hotel shuttle runs into town.
