The iPad is already in use in other Four Seasons hotels as in Washington (for guests and concierge) and the Ritz Carlton in Chicago (on loan in the Deca restaurant and bar for newspaper and magazine reading), but it's the offer in their Scottsdale hotel that won The Luxury Travel Bible over. First there is the Sonoran Desert. Then there are the coolly craggy peaks of the Pinnacle foothills and the adobe mud-style architecture of the hotel. But, come closer still inside this hotel and you'll understand why we chose this location: here, poolside, lying back in a recliner, beneath a cream canvas tented pavilion, perhaps with a little Mojito or three at your side, you are now able to peruse an iPad. See! Yes, you will have to book and pay to use the luxury cabana all day, but the iPad is a neat addition for those who like to read their books flatscreen style. Peel yourself away from poolside to pad over into the spa for a quick retouch before heading out for the modern Mexican flavours found inside the Crescent Moon restaurant - any takers for Sweet Crab tacos?
