My most luxurious and adventurous trip:
For me true luxury equals peace, space and beauty. All of these elements are combined in my Alaskan brown bear expedition. This is a true old school privately guided Alaskan adventure; flying into a remote cove in a 1957 Dehavilland float plane, boarding a 100 foot floating base camp expedition vessel, enjoying a good night's sleep in a warm bed before a hearty home cooked breakfast and a day spent tracking giant predators on foot in thick soft sedge grasses, and in the company of a world expert guide. |

Then returning to the boat for a relaxing evening with the anticipation of flying out once more to a remote mountain tented camp to follow the great bears as they fish and then gorge on salmon in a crystal clear creek, only feet away, safe in the knowledge that the 1000lb bears are much more interested in their lunch than they are in me...an amazing trip.
My favourite place in the world:
Breaking trail on our dog-team across frozen lakes and through the pristine forests of Arctic Sweden with my wife and kids with the chance sighting of bull moose, reindeer, ptarmigan, lynx and wolverine tracks in fresh snow. Then arriving back exhilarated at our log cabin to a roaring fire, candlelit dinner and a steaming wood-fired sauna before bed...Heaven! |
