Amélie du Chalard has an unconventional approach to contemporary art. She is an gallerist who nevertheless   found traditional galleries wee  often intimidating, disconnected to their audience  and too rigid. So she decided to open her very own maison d'art - a place apart and alive, where her collection of abstract art was displayed as if in her private home. 

After she opened her home people frequently asked her,  does anyone live here – can I?”. Combine this with her experience curating hotel collections and you have Ambroise, a new innovation which offers fully curated homes for art and design enthusiasts, a sort of Airbnb for art lovers an ‘Artbnb’, if you will.Du Chalard is also known for her work supplying art for hotels. For example lately she has worked with interior designers to create special spaces for Le Coucou Méribel Hotel  and  Cour des Vosges, Evok Hotel’s latest project. For Evok she created a collection with the idea that the feel was as if you were sitting in  a collectors’ house.

The name is inspired by Ambroise Vollard, the famous gallerist and dealer who championed many Modern art greats, including Picasso, van Gogh, and Gauguin.

Ambroise brings together a selection of homes to rent, with sculpture and art inspired by collectors. These offerings are completely unique in that virtually everything on display  - the art of the walls, the sculpture, the homewares –can be purchased. Amélie du Chalard was gifted her first piece of art at the of age of seven and she is keen to share her life-long passion for art and design.

“I’m really convinced that people now want to live in inspiring places where everything has been chosen and built with artists and artisans,” du Chalard, recently told Galerie magazine.

The first houses are in Saint Germain and Le Marais and feature abstract modern art. Many of the artists are also represented by du Chalard’s gallery but the homes also include one-of-a-kind pieces from well-established artists that the gallery does not represent, and some vintage design by 20th-century names like architect and designer Charlotte Perriand or Brazilian industrial designer Sergio Rodrigues.

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, kitchen, and two living rooms, Housed in a classic 19th-century Haussmann-style building, a style that to many is quintessential Paris. From here you can Wander on the Seine banks, enjoy an unforgettable experience at Michelin starred-chef Alain Passard’s restaurant l’Arpège, discover the Impressionists at the Musée d’Orsay.

Ambroise Marais
 A duplex with a more modern vibe. Living spaces are on the ground floor, and above, two bedrooms with adjoining sculpturally designed bathrooms. Batik Studio created a shell like shower.  They also created concrete and walnut waved headboards in the bedroom. The duplex is down the road from the Centre Pompidou and surrounded by hip dining spots of this eclectic and fashionable neighbourhood. Both homes have hand-painted frescos by contemporary artists.

Ambroise Montmartre and Ambroise La Provence are both scheduled to open in 2021.
