OK, THERE IS wood paneling and a mountain location but we wouldn't call this just any old alpine chalet, oh no. There not a yodel in earshot here, no stripped pine, no checked table clothes....perish the thought. This is alpine GRAND.
If you are looking for the best ski chalet in Europe this one should probably be on your top ten list (time we did one for you in fact - watch this space). Located in the peaceful area of Les Fermes de Val d'Isère, Le Rocher is a short snow-booted stroll from town and the Bellevarde Express lift.
We don't have to tell you how good the skiing is at Val d'Isère and you'll be relieved to known that this chalet has all those little home-from-home comforts to keep you happy at the end of a long skiing day: an indoor swimming pool with jet stream, a Hammam, massage room, home gym, solarium , hot tub on the balcony. Oh, and a lift so that those tired ski legs don't have to do anything as pedestrian as actually climb stairs.
The chalet is chandelier central, plus all the paneling and overhead beams are reclaimed wood. The Chalet has seven designer bedrooms (check out those cow-hide chairs) with flat screen TVs and Italian -tiled bathrooms. We're especially loving the vast master bedroom (sixty square metres no less) with its his 'n' her dressing rooms.
The main sitting room has a huge stone fireplace and the kind of squashy sofas that make it difficult to get up and go to bed. And just in case those bedroom flat screens aren't big enough the sitting room goes one better with a 64 inch TV screen and Playstation 3 Blu Ray player.
Chalet le Rocher is brought to us by M group who also own the stunning Chalet L'hotse. Also in the area is Eagle's Nest created by the same designer as Chalet Le Rocher. Staying at either of these would also keep The Luxury Travel Bible followers pretty happy.
