LUXURY TRAVEL: Prince Harry & Meghan's Honeymoon Ideas
Who doesn’t love a Royal Wedding - the dress, the famous guests, the pageantry and pomp and all for a couple so in love (and we all love Harry and Meghan!)
Travel is important to this couple, and it is widely known that their relationship began as an international, long distance one, as they spent time in Africa, Canada and the UK together. It is not yet known where they will honeymoon (and as soon as we do, you can bet it will be the MUST VISIT destination of 2018).
Here are a few suggestions from The Luxury Travel Bible for the honeymoon for our favourite royal couple (sorry Wills and Kate).

Botswana

It is widely known that the couple have a great love of Africa. During their engagement interview they divulged that they initially fell in love in Botswana, and the main diamond in Meghan’s ring comes from there. Bets are on that the couple will return to the country for their honeymoon after their May wedding. www.botswanatourism.co.bw

TLTB recommends…  Sable Alley, Botswana opened in May 2017. All twelve luxury tents have uninterrupted views of the resident pod of around 30 hippos wallowing in the camp lagoon. Harry and Meghan can relax on their veranda, gin and tonic in hand, and spot the large herds of plains game, with elephant and buffalo also coming to drink. www.naturalselection.travel

Toronto

Meghan lived in the Canadian city while she filmed her hit TV show ‘Suits’, which she left in 2017 to move to London. Maybe she will take her new husband back to the city to share her old haunts?

Toronto is a foodie’s paradise with a diverse range of cuisines, restaurants and bars, and many celebrated chefs are opening new establishments in 2018. If Meghan were to plan her honeymoon for June it would coincide with the Tastemaker Toronto, one of the top global food festivals. A visit to the festival is a must for such an avid cook (fun fact: The Royal couple were cooking a Roast Chicken when Harry proposed). www.seetorontonow.com

TLTB recommends… The Shangri-La Hotel, Toronto which offers the most spacious guestrooms in the city. Yoga fan Meghan will no doubt love the 24-hour Yoga studio to de-stress following the wedding. www.shangri-la.com/toronto/shangrila/

Malta

TLTB has named Malta as one of the ‘must visit’ destinations of 2018, therefore we think it is very fitting Harry and Meghan spend some time there too. There is also a family link, the Queen and Prince Phillip lived on the island when they were newlyweds. The young couple lived a relatively normal life during their years on the island, and the Queen still has a “deep affection” for Malta and its people.  www.visitmalta.com

TLTB recommends… The appropriately named, Palace Hotel. TLTB loves the designer suites, with themes ranging from light, fragrance and music - very fun, unique and stylish (just like Harry and Meghan)!  Meghan is known to be a passionate cook, so TLTB suggests the quirky ‘Flavours Suite’. www.thepalacemalta.com

UK Staycation

There has been a rise in popularity of taking a staycation as a honeymoon. Harry and Meghan are a very modern couple, doing things their way… so we wouldn’t be surprised if they chose a UK honeymoon.

Rumour has it they will be named by the Queen as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on their wedding day, so maybe a honeymoon in the beautiful Sussex countryside is a possibility?

TLTB recommends… The Gatehouse at Alexander House Hotel. A luxury two-bedroom house with private garden, which benefits from in-suite dining from the hotel restaurant which makes use of the local Sussex countryside’s fresh ingredients.

Set among 120 acres of beautiful Sussex countryside, this is a perfect base for Meghan to explore the county which shares her new name. www.alexanderhotels.co.uk/alexander-house-luxury-hotel-sussex/

Monaco

American actress meets and falls in love with a foreign prince, and moves to Europe to become a Princess – sound familiar? No, not Ms Markle but Grace Kelly who became Princess Grace of Monaco.

With this shared love story perhaps the glamour and luxury of Monaco would be a fitting honeymoon destination for the couple. We already know that Harry and Meghan like the principality as they welcomed in the New Year there.

Monaco is known for its style and jet-set glamour which attracts the rich and famous. The prestigious Grand Prix will be held through the streets of Monaco 24th-27th May 2018, just days after the wedding. Prince Harry is known to be a fan of Formula One, and has been spotted at Grand Prixs across the world… so maybe he could combine the two. www.visitmonaco.com

TLTB recommends… Fairmont Monte Carlo Hotel. Known as the ‘party hotel’ of the Grand Prix, all guests receive complimentary viewing from the rooftop terrace which overlooks the famous Hairpin Turn. www.fairmont.com/monte-carlo

A Family Tradition

Prince Charles and Princess Diana cruised on the Royal Yacht Britannia for their honeymoon. Princess Margaret, Princess Anne and the Duke and Duchess of York also honeymooned on the luxury ship. However, honeymooning on the Royal Yacht Britannia is no longer possible as it was decommissioned in 1997. It is now berthed permanently at the Prince of Wales Dock in Edinburgh’s historic port of Leith and tourists can tour the ship and view the State Apartments and Royal Bedrooms. But if Harry really wanted to continue this Royal tradition hope is not lost...

TLTB recommends… The company responsible for the Royal Yacht Britannia is opening Scotland’s first luxury static floating hotel around Easter 2018. The former Northern Lighthouse Board tender, MV Fingal, is being converted into a 23-bedroom hotel and will be located next to Britannia. Interiors are Art Deco-inspired, with glass pillars, curvaceous wooden wall panels and gold ceilings. The hotel is a stroll away from two Michelin-starred restaurants.  The 237ft long ship will also be home to a double height ballroom, able to seat 80 guests and featuring a moveable skylight. www.fingal.co.uk , www.royalyachtbritannia.co.uk

California

Meghan might be the newest member of the British Royal family, but she will always be a California girl at heart. While she will be marrying in her newly adopted home country, perhaps the couple will return to her hometown for their honeymoon? www.visitcalifornia.com

TLTB recommends… what better honeymoon hotel for such a glamourous couple than the iconic “Pink Palace”, The Beverly Hills Hotel?

Growing up so close to Hollywood, becoming an actress and then finding her prince, maybe it was inevitable that her life would read like a Hollywood romance. The Beverly Hills Hotel has a special place in Hollywood history, having hosted the rich and famous throughout the years. Apart from Hollywood royalty the hotel has also hosted blue-blooded guests including the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Princess Margaret and Grace Kelly. www.beverlyhillshotel.com
