					The Creators: Centara Hotels & Resorts were formally known as Central Hotels & Resorts until June 2007 and is part of The Central Group of Companies. Mr. Suthikiati Chirathivat, Chairman of the Executive Board of Central Plaza Hotel (Public) Co., Ltd. says that the name changed had been discussed for many years and they finally picked the former spa name, "Centara" to be new hotel brand. In Thailand the brand name "Central" is more famous but for the international market a new name was needed to reflect the "Thai-ness" and quality of service of the group Different sub brands under Centara Hotels & Resorts have been created in order to clearly identify and market each hotel. Five-star hotels will be using a sub brand "Grand" in the title for both hotels and resorts. Centara Hotels and Centara Resorts will be the name for four-star properties.
