LUXURY TRAVEL: June INSPIRATION 2016
What's the word on the luxury street this June? This month the shout outs come from Shanghai where the luxe tribes recently gathered at ILTM (International Luxury Travel market) Asia. www.iltm.com

EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT......

 Supreme Spas

 - Opening July 1 Canyon Ranch Wellness Resort at Kaplankaya, Bodrum will be the leading luxury Wellness Resort in Turkey. The name ‘Canyon Ranch’ has been a watch-word for wellness since the first retreat opened in Tucson more than 35 years ago. The first international retreat will offer more of the same (why mess with perfection?)  with a ‘whole-person’ approach to wellness, body, mind, and spirit , set in a staggeringly beautiful location.  Guest can expect the usual high standards of  state-of-the-art fitness, award winning gourmet cuisine, integrative wellness services, pampering spa treatments and of cause that special Canyon Ranch cache.  www.lhw.com

- Atmantan wellness destination in Southern India has just opened. This is one of the most interesting wellness retreats to open in India for years. We love the fact that it really does address the whole person , mind, body and spirit, in a meaningful way. Nestled in the lap of the majestic Sahyadri Range and is spread over 40 acres of awe-inspiring valley and Mulshi Lake. The 106-room wellness centre offers eight scientifically researched and customised all-inclusive wellness programs. The creation of Atmantan has been a long-standing dream of founder and ex-Ironman tri-athlete, Nikhil Kapur, and his wife, Pranic Healer, Sharmilee Agarwal Kapur. www.atmantan.com

- Scubaspa Maldives operates two luxury motorized yachts, Scubaspa Ying and Scubaspa Yang, which combine exactly what the name suggests: scuba diving and spa treatments. This seems like the perfect marriage to us.  Both are offered  aboard a luxury yacht , more like a floating resort than your usual diving live-aboards. The purpose built cruise vessels can be hired for a selection of voyages revealing all the beauty, culture and attractions of the Maldives, plus the use of a seriously luxurious spa. Each vessel is 50m long and can accommodate up to 40 guests in 19 modern cabins and suites. www.scubaspa.com

Chic Check-ins

- Cheval Blanc have taken over the historic and exclusive La Résidence de la Pinede, making St Tropez even more fun. Actors and writers have flocked to La Résidence since it first opened in 1936. The hotel has a private beach and swimming pool and celebrity guests love it because you can relax in style away from the bustle of the see-and-be-seen village. We predict the involvement of LVMH will mean the star rating goes sky high again guest-wise. www.chevalblanc.com

- Capella Jian Ye Li is the latest from the classy Capella group –and this is the opening voted ‘Most Anticipated’ by the TLTB team. We love the look of this one!  The hotel is due to open in Spring 2017 but an early sneak peak while in Shanghai recently means we’re already in lust with this boutique hotel.  Located within Hengfu historical and cultural preservation zone of the Xuhui District, Capella Shanghai, Jian Ye Li will be the city's only all-villa urban resort in the last remaining cluster of historical ’shikumen’  (courtyard warehouses), which were the landmark of 1930s Shanghai.  The urban resort will feature 55 “shikumen” villas, 40 luxurious residences, The Capella Library, a French brasserie, an Auriga Spa and a retail gallery of niche lifestyle brands. A show villa highlights interior designs come from the stable of enowned Indonesian designer Jaya Ibrahim  who worked on the concept before his death last year.www.capellahotels.com

- In Bali, local design is the key with the Katamama Hotel, a 58-suite property in Seminyak which opened in May. It is the first hotel from the Jakarta-based group behind the highly successful Potato Head Beach Club in Seminyak and sits on the same plot of land. "We're actively avoiding the Bali clichés," says founder Ronald Akili, (34). "We represent a modern Indonesian style that my generation can identify with, through design, art, cultural practices, food." With interiors and furniture created by Indonesian craftsmen, all rooms will have outdoor space and the property will also offer the island's first raw, vegan café and juice bar. www.katamama.com

 - Aman’s fourth property in China opens in 2017. Expect a tranquil village of historic buildings, surrounded by a sacred camphor woodland, easily accessible from Shanghai, despite its green and tranquil setting. The resort looks set to become the perfect retreat for Shanghai high flyers and visitors to the stylish city. The peaceful sanctuary, spans over 100 acres and is a living reminder of Fuzhou’s past. The colour palette is earthy tones, creamy whites and moss greens taking inspiration from the surrounding forest.  www.aman.com

137 Pillars Bangkok

 - The newly launched 137 Pillars Hotels & Resorts has Bangkok in its sights. The company responsible for the award winning historic and boutique property in Chiang Mai has something very different planned for Thailand’s capital.  The new offering has a relentlessly modern exterior. Inside 34 luxurious suites will be named after the great royal periods in Thai history; the Rattanakosin Suites, The Ayuthaya Suites, the Sukhothai Suites, and the Thonburi Suites. Expect private dining in each suite, an impressive private wine cellar, large balconies, private butler and personal shopper services  - everything you need for an executive home-from-home in Bangkok . 137pillarshotels.com
