The city of London and the old Midland bank building will be unexpectedly hip when this new hotel opens for Easter 2017. What else would you expect from Soho House & Co has (partnered with US Sydell Group) the company behind boutique properties such as The NoMad in New York and The Line in Los Angeles . This spectacular heritage 252-room hotel and members’ club will be housed in a Grade-I listed building designed in 1924 by Sir Edward ‘Ned’ Lutyens (Hence the name), (co-incidently his the British Manchester design for the Midland Bank is now the Gotham Hotel) Expect many original features including 92 African verdite columns in the former banking hall and old ‘safety deposit’ signage in a main stairwell . The nine bars and restaurants include Millie’s, serving up lobster mac 24 hours a day. There will also be a rooftop pool and bar area for members and hotel guests only.
