Adrian Zecha and Japanese hospitality group Naru Developments have teamed up to launch the new Azumi brand and we’ve been looking forward to this opening for a while.

Opening March 2021, Azumi Setoda, located on Ikuchijima a small island of about 8,000 people in the Seto Inland Sea, is a modern take on the traditional Japanese ryokan experience. 

Kyoto-based architect Shiro Miura,  trained in the sukiya style of Japanese architecture, has led the renovation and has expertly balanced the elements of a homey atmosphere with aesthetics rooted in traditional tea ceremonies. Every guest room has its own small outdoor area - either a private garden, generous balcony, or combination of both. 

We can’t wait to experience this stylish blend of traditional and modern Japanese style and hospitality.
