It is hard
to go past a hotel with the word 'relax' in its name and this pretty lodge in
the Austrian Alps certainly delivers.
Its spa is well known, summer and winter. Set high in the Tirol above
the picture postcard ski village of Obergurgl - wooden chalets, snow-covered
roof tops, you get the drift (no pun intended).
The windows of the spa have a stunning snowy panorama but what happens
inside is even more interesting. This is the place where the Alps meets Eastern
wisdom and you can get everything here from lymphatic drainage to an Indian
head massage; the perfect antidote to a day on the piste. The hotel also has a hamman,
whirlpools and the highest outdoor heated pool in the Alps with steam curling
to the crisp clear sky. In the rest of
the hotel works of art are hung between wooden beams, rooms have vistas of ice-creamy
snow covered mountains and you can ski virtually to the doorstep.
