Former Australian swimmer Michael Klim competed for his country winning Gold medals at the Olympic, Commonwealth and World Games. Since retiring from the pool he and his wife Lindy created the men's skincare range Milk & Co. which was developed through his experiences with his family and sport. The couple have expanded their brand to also include products for 'Baby' and for 'Her' (launching soon).
Michael and Lindy recently visited Hamilton Island as ambassadors as part of a lineup of Australian celebrities for Hamilton Island's social media initiative the Ultimate Instameet: Return2Paradise.
During the four day event Australian, UK and Chinese Instagrammers and competition winners experienced the best of the region's delicious produce, incredible sights and the luxury on offer. The group captured and shared their experiences instantly on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Tumblr and China's Tencent Weibo, reaching hundreds of millions of social media users worldwide.

Here Michael talks to The Luxury Travel Bible about his experience at Hamilton Island and opens his passport to reveal all about his travels around the world.

Tell us about your experiences on Hamilton Island?
Our Hamilton Island Instameet was an amazing experience on all fronts, not only did we get spoilt rotten but it was all about Instagram and meeting influential people from all different walks of life and using Instagram as a hobby or business. Instagram is all about capturing special moments in time and sharing them with your friends and family and what better back drop to use than Hamilton Island; it was truly an unforgettable experience.
What makes Hamilton Island such a great holiday destination?
Hamilton Island is a great holiday destination because it simply has it all from great weather, accommodation, food and plenty of activities. Plus it is in such a beautiful part of the world.
What do you and your wife, Lindy love most about what Hamilton Island has to offer for families?
The fact that Hamilton Island caters for families is really important for us and the proximity of all the major attractions makes it easy to get around and enjoy the sights.
Throughout your career you have racked up lots of air miles... which destination has been your favourite?
My most memorable place I visited I'd have to say is Monaco, I was invited to race there in the prime of my career and was very well look after from scenic chopper transfers to fine dining.

What is your first travel memory?
I travelled a lot as a kid as my family moved around the world a lot with my father's work but I distinctly remember a trip we went on when I was 8 to visit my aunty who lived in Paris. As a kid climbing the Eiffel tower was a pretty big deal. |
What is the one travel experience you will never forget?
A trip Lindy and I went to Europe - part to compete but also to get engaged (ha ha) we had a ball, a perfect mix between business and pleasure and all topped off with the proposal in Rome!
Is there anywhere in the world that you haven't been to but you have always wanted to visit?
I would like to visit Africa. I have never been there and have heard great things. |

What does 'luxury' (in relation to travel) mean to you?
In my eyes Luxury means spoiling yourself with things that you would not normally experience on a day to day basis from amazing beds, great amenities, food and wine, customer service and the attention to detail. |
Favourite Hotel Pool?
Hanging Gardens, Ubud, Bali, Indonesia |
Favourite Airline?
I don't really have one but it's always nice to walk onto a QANTAS flight after being on the road for a while. It feels like one step closer to home.
Who would you most like to sit next to on a long haul flight?
I'd have to say Lindy otherwise I'll get in trouble! |
What's on your travel soundtrack?
On my travel sound track at the moment you'll find Mike Snow, Alt-J, Presets, XX, Depeche Mode, Ben Pearce, Bruno Mars, The 2 Bears, and even Rihanna

What three things do you never leave home without?
Milk and Co travel kit goes without saying but these days it's all about my gadgets from my laptop, iPhone and headphones and our Milk and Co Scrub and Cleanse wipes. All the other things I can pick up on my travels if I forget them |
Where to next?
Chicago in July to sell Milk and Co to the USA.
