The Luxury Travel Bible - HIGH FLYER: No. 1 Traveller Lounge, Heathrow T3, England

HIGH FLYER: No. 1 Traveller Lounge, Heathrow T3, England
The No 1 Traveller Lounge in Heathrow's Terminal 3 is the flagship of the group's collection of UK lounges. Also located at Gatwick (North and South Terminals), Birmingham and Stansted airport they are a great option when luxury travellers don't have access to a specific airline's lounge.
After finding the lounge down the winding corridors of T3, a friendly receptionist greeted me as I approached the main desk. Initially a potentially embarrassing scene started to play out in front of a building queue as she could not locate my booking on the system. However the professionalism of the lounge's staff ensured that this was discreetly dealt with and I was quickly whisked through to the seating area.
The sleek and stylish lounge overlooks the runway and has plenty of seating areas available. In fact the layout of the lounge is much like a rabbit's warren with various rooms leading off corridors, and is divided up into dining, relaxing and working zones.

The lounge offers the use of PCs and complimentary Wi-Fi for all guests. There is also television screens, cosy cinema and games room and a good selection of both British and International magazines and newspapers. Despite visiting during a busy evening (although, when isn't Heathrow busy?), The Luxury Travel Bible was extremely pleased to discover that there were plenty of seating options and also many power outlets available through the lounge.
The lounge also features the No.1 Travel Spa - a must visit destination for any last minute pampering and preening before jetting off. Treatments available include two-week manicure or pedicure, Flight relief massages to refresh, promote circulation and reduce swelling, facials and any last-minute waxing.
During TLTB's stay at the lounge there unfortunately wasn't enough time for a treatment, however we did find the staff extremely accommodating especially when we went to seek out a toothbrush which we discovered we had forgotten to pack ours. Passengers also can freshen up in the spa showers.

Down the centre of the dining area was the extensive self-service Pantry Table, decked out with a range of fresh salads, cheeses, fruit, cakes and biscuits and also a 'Soup of the Day' - during my visit it was a delicious and filling vegetable variety. The food on offer seems to be well thought out range of items that travellers will actually want to eat and also a good balance of filling, yet not heavy ahead of a long haul flight. I am told that the menu is constantly changing in order to keep frequent flyers from getting tired of the dishes on offer.

As well as unlimited trips to the table, guests can also order from the lounge's bistro menu and each guest can order a complimentary dish. I opted for the Fish and Chip basket, while my travel companion chose the Farmhouse terrine. Although on the portions were on the small side, they were delicious. Had time allowed we would have ordered another dish to try the rest of the menu for the reasonable price of £4.00 per item.

If you are looking for something more substantial there is also an A La Carte menu available.

Complimentary soft drinks, wine, beer and spirits can be ordered from the bar but should you wish to get your holiday off to a great start, champagne, sparkling wine and cocktails are also available for an additional price.
Little Luxies are welcome in the lounge as long as they are accompanied by an adult at all times. Children's packs and a playroom are available to keep them entertained.
Should your airline not have access to its own lounge, the No.1 Traveller lounge's relaxed style and friendly service is a great option for travellers going through UK airports.

LUXURY INSIDERS SAY... The morning pancakes from the complimentary Bistro Menu are a big favourite. Our luxury insiders cannot get enough of them!

Pancakes are served with a choice of golden syrup of berry compote until 11am.
