Converted from a property standing on the grounds of a working tea plantation in Gisakura, the 22-room One & Only Resort will bring luxury to a little visited part of Rwanda. Its rooms and suites in boast private decks and fireplaces. Activities include primate trekking, spear-throwing, hilltop archery, and helicopter tours of the park. Perched on the edge of the vast Nyungwe National Park, which incorporates one of the oldest forests in Africa and provides a habitat for over 13 different species of primate. Visitors to the retreat will be able to join excursions to view the many rare species of chimpanzees that reside in the area.
