OPEN PASSPORT: Colbie Caillat

A new travelogue video diary series has been released online offering a fresh perspective of Tahiti. Told through the eyes of US singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, known for songs such as 'Brighter than the Sun' and 'Lucky', who instantly fell in love with the paradise island.

Australian pro surfer Ellie-Jean Coffey shared her "favourite place on Earth" with the two-time Grammy winner who was in Tahiti for the first time to perform at the opening ceremony of the Billabong Pro.

Caillat revealed, 'My manager called me and asked if I wanted to go with Billabong to Tahiti and play a few songs and I, of course, said absolutely. I've been dying to go to Tahiti my entire life. I was honoured and beyond thrilled to come [to Tahiti]'.

Set against Tahiti's breathtaking natural backdrop, Caillat and Coffrey enjoyed 'ringside' seats at the surf tournament positioned in boats just metres from where the world's best surfers try and tame the legendary Teahupo'o break.

The duo also had time to take in the local sights including facing their fears, at Moorea Island, to swim with Sting Rays and baby Sharks.

The stunning scenery of Caillat's three video blogs will no doubt inspire every TLTB reader to dive into the waters of Tahiti, which according to the singer is 'bluer water than I have ever seen, it's pretty magnificent' ...
