The Group: In 1984 Morgans Hotel Group developed its first hotel, Morgans in New York. This was the hotel that revolutionized the hotel scene by introducing the "Boutique Hotel" concept to the world. An early association with designer Philippe Starck set the style of the hotels. |

The Creators: Ian Schrager left Morgans Hotel Group in 2005 and is now Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ian Schrager Company, but as its creator his legacy lingers on. Schrager is a hotel legend who almost single-handedly changing the face of the hotel industry. Before Schrager there was only cookie-cutter five star, after him there was design and choice. Since he created Studio 54 with the late Steve Rubell in the 70s Schrager has been breaking the mould and bringing the lightness of good design to life's dark and dingy corners. 'The lobby as social theatre', 'urban retreats' and 'cheap chic' are all concepts that can be laid at his door. As French Vogue once put it; "he has revolutionised the art of living."
He created ten definitive hotels with his Morgans Hotel Group, including Mondrian Los Angeles and Delano, South Beach before moving on. Schrager's recent venture, a partnering with Marriott International to create a new brand of 100 hotels could be interesting - he has joined forces with the mainstream but can he change that too?
Schrager is also developing a number of unique hotel and residential projects. If his first forays into this area- the iconic Gramercy Park Hotel (in collaboration with artist Julian Schnabel) and 50 Gramercy Park North and 40 Bond Street - were anything to go by the beat goes on... |

New Hotels: Morgans Hotel Group currently have property transactions, in various stages of completion including projects in Miami Beach, Florida, and Las Vegas, Nevada.
Ian Schrager Group is currently partnering with Marriott with projects in Miami, Miami South and New York.
